About Ryan
I am Ryan P. (not Percival) Dotson.
I was brought into this world on an unassuming late September afternoon in 1982 (by the current reckoning).
I do very little. But what little I do is done with inexplicable passion. I am a huge fan of the spoken word: radio, podcast, audio book, even, yes!, real face-to-face communication. In a related fashion, I enjoy the study of linguistics. Also: language, especially French.
I love music. All types. Mostly female vocalists (Nellie McKay, Neko Case, Laura Veirs, Martha Wainwright). But above all: The Dresden Dolls — Amanda Palmer and Brian Viglione. Words cannot describe this passion.
I am also in love with technology (that works).
I remain alive as of this writing. However should I be taken by the rapture, those of you who are important to me will receive an email letting you know that you’ve been left behind. Unless you were holy enough to come along. Sorry guys.
I find religion in its more benign forms to be humorous and ridiculous. And in its more poisonous forms frightening and despicable. But despite that I still love you for being another human being.
I am also to be found on other corners of the web:
Physically I can be located in the city of Athens, Ohio. And most specifically on the campus of Ohio University, Gordy Hall. Home of the linguists and “modern” languages (don’t ask; it’s inexplicable).
